Folic acid is important for women who are planning a pregnancy or who are pregnant, since it is involved in the healthy development of the nervous system, particularly in the first trimester.
Iron is frequently low in the daily diet, which may lead to iron deficiency-related anemia.
Iron may be depleted in women of childbearing age, after childbirth or whilst breastfeeding, and is one of the minerals often found deficient on a global scale.
Vitamin B12 combines with folic acid for the formation of red blood cells and together with iron are needed for haematinic factors, vital for the formation of healthy blood cells.
